#842 – Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District

Initial Service

The Santa Cruz Metro Transit District had a fleet of 20 GM T6H-4523 “New Look” buses built from 1972 to 1977. In 1976 it acquired 6 new T6H-4523N‘s, including bus #842.

Service History

The Santa Cruz MTD preserved # 842 as a historical bus, keeping it until 2010.

Pathway to PBM

In 2010 Santa Cruz MTD donated # 842 to the Pacific Bus Museum along with a spare a spare VH transmission.

What People Love

Drivers loved these New Look buses because the windshields were much bigger and allowed for better peripheral vision and situational awareness. These were quickly nicknamed the “Fishbowl”.
