The Santa Cruz Metro Transit District had a fleet of 20 GM T6H-4523 “New Look” buses built from 1972 to 1977. In 1976 it acquired 6 new T6H-4523N‘s, including bus #842.
The Santa Cruz MTD preserved # 842 as a historical bus, keeping it until 2010.
In 2010 Santa Cruz MTD donated # 842 to the Pacific Bus Museum along with a spare a spare VH transmission.
Drivers loved these New Look buses because the windshields were much bigger and allowed for better peripheral vision and situational awareness. These were quickly nicknamed the “Fishbowl”.
As a volunteer orginization, we are always looking for as much help as we can get. If you've got skills and time, and want to get your hands dirty, consider becoming a member.
If you don't want to contribute "hands-on", financial donations for the restoration of bus #842 are also needed at this time to complete this remaining work. All donations for bus #842 will be placed in a Special Fund account exclusively for the restoration and maintenance of bus #842. Please make a donation today to continue the restoration of bus #842!
