According to the Ohio Museum of Bus Transportation, which is a recognized good source of accurate bus production information, GM TDH-4517-319 was built in February or March 1960. You can tell by the windows that it is 35′ in length. It was delivered new to the Virginia Transportation Company’s Richmond Division as their fleet number 304. As originally built, it would have had 45 seats.
– Alan S. Fong, Pacific Bus Museum Treasurer
It seems to have become part of the City of Livermore’s Rideo bus system fleet around 1965.
Wheels, the Tri-Valley bus transportation provider, acquired the historic Rideo bus from the City of Livermore in the late 1980’s.
Alameda County Supervisor and Wheels Board Member, Scott Haggerty played a major role in the restoration of the Rideo bus, securing state and federal funding in 2011 to rehabilitate this piece of Livermore’s history to its former glory.
As the last remaining Rideo bus in existence, this bus is featured at many events.
