Movie Star

Our buses generate a lot of excitement when people see them. They get even more excited when they find out that some of our buses are Movie Stars!

Please contact us if you are interested in using any of our buses for your film or TV project. All of our buses run-and-drive, and we love to take them out on adventures.

#2738 – Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit)

 

  Our Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) #2738  has been used in many different films and TV commercials.

  • On 01/28/2024 2738 was in a Movie Shoot in Vallejo 
  • On 1/11/2023 Matt Kaufman drove 2738 to the former Oakland Amtrak station on 16th Street to shoot a commercial with soccer players inside the bus. 
  • From 1/5/2023 until 1/10/2023 2738 was used in a film shoot in San Rafael for the film “Freaky Tales” by Holy Toledo Films. Kelly Locke drove the bus.
  • On 7/31/2023 Doug Braga drove 2738 in a film shoot in Fremont.
  • On 11/3/2021 member Doug Braga drove 2738 to Oakland for a movie shoot
  • On 5/3/2021 member Kelly Locke drove 2738 to Vacaville for a movie shoot. On May 8th the film crew came to the yard to film an additional scene.
  • On Thursday, 8/3/2020 2738 was used in a film shoot in Lafayette for the Carouso Company. Member Kelly Locke drove the bus.

2023 – #2, #77 & #128

 

 

On Sunday, July 30th, there was a film shoot at Shinn yard with Buses #2 – Santa Cruz Transit Company, #77 – Glacier National Park Transportation, and #128 – Niles Coach Lines. Tom Baker, Aaron Essenmacher, John and Eva Fenlon, and Tom Shafer positioned the buses for the film crew.

2022 – Nisei – #1826

 

On Sunday, July 31st, member Matt Kaufman drove Pacific Greyhound Lines #1826 , our 1945 GM PD-3302, to a film shoot in Morgan Hill for the short film “Nisei”. That’s Matt in the Greyhound driver’s uniform. Photos from Matt Kaufman collection.

2022 – Oppenheimer – #308

  Key Systems 308 was used for the filming of the movie “Oppenheimer” in Sierra Madre, CA in late April.  

Pacific Bus Museum Vice-President, Tom Shafer, is in the driver’s seat for the filming of the movie “Oppenheimer”.

2021 – Happy Goat – #77

Glacier National Park Transportation #77 was used in the May 22nd filming of the movie is Happy Goat starring Nina Jordon. These scenes were filmed in the PBM yard.

 

 
 

In this scene was Nina getting into a bus headed for California from Seattle. She is disgusted with being cooped up in the rainy, foggy weather bound Northwest. In California she meets a goat farmer in Half Moon Bay and……..!

On May 10th member Matt Kaufman drove #3270 – San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) to San Francisco for a movie shoot.

2020 – #4 & #9049

  On Saturday, August 22nd, #4 – Los Gatos High School and #9049 – Yosemite Community College were used in a film shoot at the yard. Lorne Thompson moved the buses around for the film crew. The crew had been to the yard on August 15th to make sure the location would work for them.

2016 – TV show, Classic Restos

Australian automotive TV show, Classic Restos visited the PBM’s museum recently to film a future episode for the show featuring the PBM’s buses. Mark Fletcher, host and producer of the show and Mark Behr sponsor of the show arrived on Tuesday, October 25 to do the filming. The finished episode is on YouTube.

2014 – Jersey Boys – #128

  #128 – Niles Coach Lines was used in the filming of the movie, “Jersey Boys”  

 

2012 – Smucker’s Commercial – Crown #4

2010 – Local Sports TV Program

  On Tuesday, September 14, 2010 PBM members Charles Williams, Homer Beaudoin and Ron Medaglia drove Niles Coach Lines bus 517, #77 – Glacier National Park Transportation and #246 – Peerless Stages to the newly completed Niles Town Plaza in Niles, CA not far from the PBM’s yard in Fremont where they were staged as backdrops for the filming of the program, which aired on Saturday, September 18, 2010 on a local Fox TV, KTVU Channel 2. During the filming sports commentators Joe Fonzi and Kim Yonenaka made several “plugs” for the PBM including our need for a permanent home and the Niles vintage bus operation. The filming ended with both commentators boarding 246 as it drove away from the plaza area.

2009 – KPIX Channel 5

  The PBM’s GM TDH 4512, Niles Coach Lines #128 was used to film a segment on Niles for the local CBS Television Network affiliate. The filming took place on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. 128 was driven by member Dave Hughes. KPIX Channel 5 did the filming for a local TV show that will feature special places in the SF bay area.

2008 – Milk #3270

  Milk, a motion picture about the life of San Francisco city Supervisor Harvey Milk, was filmed in San Francisco recently. he movie set in San Francisco in the 1970s called for 70’s era SF Municipal Railway bus and PBM’s GM T8H5305, #3270 – San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) was used for filming scenes for the movie on four dates in February and March. PBM member Joe Hunter of Green Acres Picture Vehicles handled arrangements for the shoot with 3270.

2007 – Zodiac Movie

  Our #4 1952 Crown school bus was featured in the 2007 Zodiac movie with Jake Gyllenhaal.

  Our #172 – Las Vegas-Tonopah-Reno Stage Lines General Motors PD-4106 was “dressed up” (livery wrap) to look like a Greyhound for the 2007 Zodiac movie with Jake Gyllenhaal.  

 

2005 – Valley of Light – #1826

  PBM bus #1826’s unanticipated 2-month odyssey is finally over when The Valley of Light movie shoot finally finished filming on December 2, 2005 in Coloma, CA. The setting for the movie for TV’s Hallmark channel is rural West Virginia at the end of WW II. After being transported from Fremont to the Portland area for filming in early October and again in early November filming was moved to Coloma, CA in the foothills of the Sierras because of unexpected early rains in the Portland, Oregon area. Each time the #1945 was moved it was aboard a tractor and Landoll trailer owned by member Ted Campbell. Ted also doubled as the driver of the #1945 for all the filming.

2004 – Deus Productions – #7103

  On Friday, September 17, PBM Treasurer Tim Swank took the RTD Flxible #7103 from Fremont to Oakland near the old Amtrak station for a film shoot with Deus Productions. PBM President Ron Medaglia and Member-At-Large David Chen showed up to watch the proceedings.

1993 – Marlboro Ad – #172

  Our General Motors PD 4106 #172 was used in Marlboro TV and Print advertising in 1993.

#308 – East Bay Motor Coach Lines
#308 - East Bay Motor Coach Lines

East Bay Motor Coach Lines (Key System) acquired 11 model 15 “baby” Twins starting in January 1931.

The PBM acquired the #308 from the estate of the late Jerry Graham in 1996.

#308 was included in the filming of the movie “Oppenheimer”.

#2738 – Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit)

Bus #2738 was part of an order of 65 30-foot Gillig Phantoms for AC Transit delivered in 1990.

#2738 was donated to the Pacific Bus Museum in June 2011.

#7103 – Southern California Rapid Transit District (SCRTD)

#7103 became one of the first buses of the newly formed Pacific Bus Museum in 1989 when it was split off from the West Coast Motor Coach Museum.

#172 – Las Vegas-Tonopah-Reno Stage Lines

This General Motors PD-4106 was delivered new to Las Vegas-Tonopah-Reno (LTR) Stage Line in 1964.

The bus was donated to the PBM in 1996 along with the five other buses of Richard Twining’s historical bus collection.

#246 – Peerless Stages

Three General Motors TDM-4512’s (#244-246) were delivered to Peerless Stages, Inc. of Oakland, CA in April 1955.

In 1996 Richard donated #246 along with the five other buses in his historic bus collection to the Pacific Bus Museum.

#77 – Glacier National Park Transportation

This Flxible Visicoach was one of four (#48-51) delivered new in 1955 to the Utah Parks Company as #50.

The bus was donated to the PBM in 1996 along with the five other buses of Richard Twining’s historical bus collection.

#4 – Los Gatos High School
#4 - Los Gatos High School

This Crown A -779 -11 Supercoach was built in 1952 for Los Gatos High School in Los Gatos, CA.

Pacific Bus Museum Member, Tom Shafer, bought the bus and donated it to the Pacific Bus Museum in 2003.

This bus was featured in a 2012 Smucker’s TV commercial as wells as the 2007 Zodiac movie with Jake Gyllenhaal.

This GM PD 3302 coach was delivered to Missouri Pacific Stages in 1945 as #821.
