Shasta College #7

Shasta College 7.  Shasta College (Redding, CA) #7 was delivered in late December 1978, and was used by them for just under 40 years, and it was the last of many Gilligs purchased for their fleet.

Bus #7 was donated to the Pacific Bus Museum in Fall 2018 upon retirement from Shasta College service.  Soon afterwards, it was then driven to its first meet, a Crown & Gillig Ride & Drive in Fresno, CA, where it was a popular bus to view and drive.

Many members have requested to drive this bus!

Manufacturer: Gillig Corporation, Hayward, CA

Model: 855-9 Serial#: E5080 Built: 1979

The bus was originally delivered with a midship-mounted 290 Cummins engine, but was upgraded to a very powerful 335 Cummins later on.  It has a 10-speed Fuller Roadranger manual transmission, Jacobs Engine Brake, on-demand chain package, and many more options.  It also has an unusual custom one-piece sedan door that no other Shasta College bus had.  It has 41 reclining seats.  Shasta College also donated many spare parts.

Current Status

#7 is operable and in good mechanical condition with the body and interior in good physical condition.
