On April 25th, several members of the PBM attended the
14th annual Pacific Coast
Dream Machines show at the Half Moon Bay Airport in Half Moon Bay California. The
annual show is a mix between a classic car show and an airshow. A total of 4 vintage buses
were displayed by the PBM at this year's event.
The PBM members all met up in San Mateo early Sunday morning in order
to convoy over the hill to Half Moon Bay. Leading the group was Golden Gate Transit's
restored Pacific Greyhound Lines TDM 4801, #K-1468, driven by PBM member Steve Souza. PBM
member David Chen brought his GM SDH4501, ex-AC Transit #146, followed by PBM member
Phillips Sweet's beautifully restored Greyhound GM PD 3751 "Silverside". All
three were joined by the PBM's GM TDM 4512, Peerless Stages #246. All four buses traveling
in convoy made quite a sight eliciting numerous "thumbs up" signs of approval
from many of the classic cars on their way to the event.
Large crowds were attracted to this year's Dream Machine by the sunny
weather and temperatures in the mid 70s. Member Phillips Sweet lent the PBM the use of his
canopy for our table display. This made it pleasant for the many visitors to the PBM's
table and kept the sun off the volunteers as well. Staffers gave out brochures and
information to scores of people all day. Many offered kind words for preserving vintage
buses.
Thanks go to all the PBM members who helped make this year's Dream
Machine display a success: Jeremy Higdon, David Chen, Phillips Sweet, Ron Medaglia, Steve
Souza and Jim Husing. |
